Accounting Ireland - Review Linear is an exciting new accounting software package, which has been developed in Ireland. The system is the brainchild of John F. Gilbert, a Certified Management Accountant, who spent his working life in the industrial accounting field. Having experienced the early days of punch card accounting systems he became disillusioned with the direction that the development of computerised accounting was taking. He held the view that the double entry accounting system that had taken several hundred years to develop had been abandoned in favour of a convenient alternative, which happened to suit the programming concepts of the time. Upon his retirement Gilbert set about designing accounting software using the double entry ledger system which all accountants know and love so well.
